The world of Scouting can sometimes be intimidating for parents and leaders who are new to the program. With this section we hope to ease that transition, with access to a wealth of resources - some housed on this site but most linked to others who share our passion for Scouting.
Check out our pages on Camping, Advancements (including details on belt loop requirements) and other resources. And for everything else, check out the following Web sites:
- Etowah District - This is our local district of the Boy Scouts of America, comprising Forsyth, Dawson and Lumpkin counties.
- Northeast Georgia Council - Our council covers 26 counties, serving more than 24,000 boys in nearly 600 Scouting units.
- U.S. Scouting Service Project - This massive Scouting portal contains materials or links to resources covering the gamut of Scouting. It's a great resource for parents den leaders looking for crafts, projects, skits, songs or just about anything else related to Scouts.
Where to Buy Uniforms, Etc. (Click links for directions, hours and other info)
- Jefferson Service Center - This full-featured Scout Shop is located in Pendergrass, between Gainesville and Athens on Highway 129. Profits benefit the Northeast Georgia Council.
- Lawrenceville Service Center - Our district's other Scout Shop is located off Highway 20 just north of Highway 316 in Lawrenceville. Profits benefit the Northeast Georgia Council.
- The Outside World - While you won't find the variety, you will find basic uniform, patches and handbooks -- and it's right up the road. Look for a rustic wood look on their building on Georgia 400 North, just before you reach the outlet mall.
www.ScoutStuff.org - Possibly your best bet in the age of online shopping, ScoutStuff.org is the official online source for information about camping equipment, uniforms, handbooks, pinewood derby supplies, and other essential Scouting merchandise.
